About the challenge

OregonHacks is inviting all High School and college students from the PDX area to participate in a friendly, entry-level hackathon. If you're a complete beginner who just learned their first computer language, or if you're a part-time developer, OregonHacks is the hackathon for you!

Judging Criteria

  • Impact & Problem Fit
    (25% of score): Does the project solve a real problem? Is the target user clear? Would the solution meaningfully help someone if developed further
  • Technical Execution 
    (25% of score): Is the implementation functional? Did the team build meaningful features? Is there evidence of technical challenge, integration, or original engineering?
  • Usability, Design & Accessibility 
    (20% of score): Is the project easy to understand and use? Is the interface thoughtful? Did the team consider accessibility, clarity, and user experience?
  • Creativity & Originality
    (15% of score): Is the idea fresh, clever, or unexpected? Did the team approach the problem in an interesting way rather than making a generic app?
  • Presentation & Demo Quality 
    (15% of score): Did the team clearly explain the problem, solution, technical approach, and impact? Did the demo show the project working?
